Sign up for SBC's internal summer league

SBC’s Internal Summer League is back! We’re once again offering all players an opportunity to play competitively against other SBC pairs in Open, Mixed or Women’s formats.

The league is open to everybody - you do not need to be a league player to take part - this is about giving people experience of playing consistent games with a partner against other players at SBC.

We hope the games will be enjoyable as well as competitive, and players of all standards are encouraged to sign up. Players can sign up in pairs or as an individual looking for a partner.

To sign up for the internal summer league, please complete our short online form. The deadline to register is midnight, Thursday 28 May.

By signing up, you commit that you will have the availability over the following three months to be able to arrange and fulfill the fixtures with your partner and opponents. 

How does it work?

We’ll set up box leagues (minimum three pairs, maximum six), for Open, Women’s and Mixed pairs. The size, and number of groups will depend on how many players we have taking part.

As with last year, we’ll run the tournament through Challonge.com. You’ll receive an invite link to our tournament page shortly before the League starts through which you can see your upcoming games, enter your results, and view league standings. 

You’ll organise your own games outside of club night with the other pairs within your group. We suggest booking a court for an hour and splitting the court hire cost and shuttles between the four of you. You’ll play the best of three games up to 21. 

There will be one winner per box league, which will be calculated by the total number of points at the end of the summer.

Important dates

• Thursday 28 May - deadline to register for the internal summer league

• By Sunday 31 May - everyone will be informed of the box leagues and format

• Monday 1 June - league begins

• Sunday 20 June - you should aim to ideally play your first two matches of the league by this date

• Sunday 19 July- you should aim to ideally play your next two matches by this date 

• Sunday 13 September - end of the internal summer league - all matches should be played by this date
