Is this the right session for you?
Our Improvers’ nights are perfect for players who want to bridge the gap between social play and competitive club badminton. You should join us if you:
-
Play Regularly: You have played socially and want to get into the sport more consistently.
-
Want to Develop: You want to work on your technique, shots, positioning, movement, and stamina.
-
Are Preparing for More: You want to improve your game before joining a fully competitive environment.
⚠️ Please Note: While these sessions are at an accessible level, they are focused on match play. They are not for providing formal coaching or teaching the basic rules of how to play badminton.
Are you an experienced, competitive player? If you already have a strong grasp of doubles tactics, overhead clears, and fast-paced match play, you may find our Main Club Night more suited to your level.
Alternatives for Beginners
You should instead:
-
Attend a Badminton England No Strings session or Essentials course to learn basic techniques, rules, and improve your gameplay
-
Research other beginner-level sessions run near you by sports centres or private coaches
-
Seek some one-to-one coaching, which can quickly improve your skills. You can find and contact a local coach via the Badminton England website.
Our improvers' club nights involve a mix of men’s, ladies’ and mixed doubles badminton games, organised by trained SBC committee volunteers.
