League teams
Southsea Badminton Club currently has six teams in the Portsmouth and Havant Badminton Association (PHBA) league, including three Open teams, one Women’s team, and two mixed teams.
How we run our league teams
To represent Southsea Badminton Club in the local league, you’ll first need to be an SBC member for a small fee (however being a member does not guarantee you a place in a team or in a particular fixture).
There is also a match fee for each match that you play in. Together these help cover your league affiliation fees, and court and shuttle costs.
Team selection
Team selection is undertaken by the club committee and team captains. Factors affecting a player’s inclusion in a team may include, but isn’t limited to:

Ability level

Team spirit, positive attitude and adherence to our Player Code of Conduct

Commitment to the club and wider SBC community, including attending club nights and/or training

Squad sizes and compatibility with other players

The team’s competitive position in the league
Pairs for individual fixtures will be selected by team captains.
