Filming and photography guidelines for players

We recognise that filming and reviewing games can be a valuable tool for players seeking to improve their performance. The club supports players who wish to film their matches for personal review and development.

To ensure a comfortable and respectful environment for all our players, we’ve established the following guidelines for filming and photography during club sessions:

1. Consent is essential

  • Before any filming or photography begins, you must obtain clear and explicit consent from all players who may be captured in the frame.

  • This includes anyone playing on the court being filmed, and also anyone who might be in the background.

  • If, after recording, you discover audio or video of a player from whom you did not obtain consent, please remove the audio or video segment

  • If you are unsure, ask!

2. Safeguarding

  • In the event that any players attending a club night are under 18 filming and photography will NOT be permitted

3. Equipment and safety

  • To minimise trip hazards and make it clear that filming is taking place, we encourage the use of a tripod. The club has one available that players can use at Portsmouth High School.

  • Please ensure that all equipment is positioned safely and does not obstruct player movement or access to the courts.

  • Ask the committee member running the session for access to the tripod and please ensure you return it when finished using.

4. Respecting privacy

  • Players have the right to request that footage be deleted after it has been recorded. Please respect their wishes if they make this request.

  • Audio can also identify people, please be aware of this, and remove any audio from videos if asked to do so.

5. Social media usage

  • If you intend to use any footage or photographs on social media, you must clearly state this intention to all players in the recording and obtain their explicit consent.

  • We also ask that all audio is removed before any recordings are posted to social media

  • Be mindful of the content you share and ensure it is respectful and appropriate.

6. General conduct

  • Filming and photography should not disrupt the flow of play or interfere with other players’ enjoyment of the sessions.

  • Consider filming only when playing on end courts to limit tripping hazards

  • Please be considerate of others and respect their privacy.

  • The committee may direct you to delete any footage they deem necessary.

We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the committee.
